The core marketing elements of Price, Promotion, Product, and Place has been expanded to include People.

1- Product

  • Why does your ideal customer need the products you are offering?

  • What are the functions of your product?

2- Price

Price can include discounts, payment options, credit terms,  and price-matching services if offered.

When it comes to product pricing, there are several things that you need to consider. You will want to factor in the cost of manufacturing your product and any transportation or distribution costs. Competitor pricing and your existence in the market also indicate your product’s Price.

Promotional sales and discounts are essential assets for product marketing. When pricing your product, they should be factored in to ensure you stay in the black financially when promoting your business’s USPs (Unique Selling Propositions).

3- Promotion  

Promotion is one of the other crucial elements of the marketing mix. Promotion is probably the most important of all the 5 Ps of marketing because this is how your potential customers learn about your offerings and your company. You’ve defined your product, who wants it, and why they must get it from you. Now, it’s time to tell them all about it.

Costs can add up in promotion, especially in marketing and public relations. Your ideal customer’s analysis must be detailed, covering everything from demographics to social media usage to sales tracking.

4- Place  

The place is where the target audience can find your product or service and buy it. It incorporates the distribution methods for your offerings and the methods used to get the product to primary consumers.

Accessibility for your product is essential. Your consumers need to be able to find you and get your products when they need them. With the rise of eCommerce, many companies are advertising and distributing their products exclusively through online stores. Others continue retailing brick-and-mortar stores or leveraging third-party distributors to reach their consumers.

The place also incorporates the way your products are presented. The placement of ads online or in other media can notably affect your product’s victory and whether it reaches your ideal customers. A product’s display in a physical store can make or break its sale, so where your product is placed and how it effectively appeals to the customer are pivotal.

 5-People  

You may assume that ‘people’ refers to your target audience or customers, but this is inaccurate. ‘People’ refers to the people within the business, like staff, delivery drivers, salespeople, service providers, suppliers, and many more constituting the business environment.

Customers are essential; the best customer service begins with the organization’s human resources. Employees treated somewhat are motivated and taken care of at work. Given the tools they require to succeed, they pass that positivity on to the consumers.

The staff is the brand ambassadors of the company and the products you offer. Having the best on your team will translate to a good customer experience, which leads to return customers.
